Robert W. Carlstrom Co., Inc. was founded as a general
contracting firm in 1945 by Robert W. Carlstrom. In the early
years, the firm specialized in smaller concrete and masonry construction.
As capital and human resources grew, it expanded into all phases
of general construction, and in 1976, Jon and Lee Carlstrom acquired
ownership of the firm. Since 2003, Jon has retired, Scott Umhoefer
was promoted to President with Ian Carlstrom, Jon's son, as Vice-President.
Throughout the history of Robert W. Carlstrom Co.,
Inc. we have prided ourselves in finishing projects on time,
within budget and to the highest quality construction
standards with the people available today in the construction
industry.
In 2007, Robert W. Carlstrom Co., Inc. completed
over $30 million worth of construction projects. Currently, the
staff of RWC includes:
Five project managers and estimators
Five full-time
accounting and office personnel
One full-time safety director
We currently
have a staff of approximately 70 tradespeople highly trained in
all phases of construction including supervisors, layout people,
equipment operators, forming carpenters, finish carpenters, laborers,
concrete finishers and certified welders
Our company prides itself in having a stringent
safety program to protect our workers and our subcontractors on
our projects. Robert W. Carlstrom Co., Inc. has a highly successful
safety program and safety record. Our current experience mod is
.74. The average in the industry is 1.0. This low rating indicates
our attention to safety on all projects, as well as equating to
a substantial savings to Owners for whom we work as our Workers'
Compensation costs are lower due to our safety record.
We have a full-time safety officer on staff who
makes weekly safety inspections on all job sites. All new employees
are given a safety orientation and are provided a safety manual.
Safety meetings are also held regularly with documentation provided
to the Owners. Through our concerted efforts and safety awareness
at all levels, we have been able to maintain a good safety record
and pass the savings on to our customers.
