Company History

Robert W. Carlstrom Co. Inc. is recognized throughout Southern Minnesota as a general contractor and construction manager that achieves results. The company was founded in 1945 by Robert W. Carlstrom. In 1976, RWC was taken over by Robert's sons, Jon and Lee Carlstrom. The third generation of RWC leadership began in 2004; Scott Umhoefer and Ian Carlstrom (Robert's grandson) provide leadership as President and Vice President, respectively. The continuity in leadership has yielded steady growth and preserved Robert's commitment to the highest standards of workmanship and service.

Customer satisfaction is the cornerstone of our success. We take pride in our close working relationships developed through trust with many of our clients who are repeat customers. We believe it is important to build lasting customer relationships. By understanding a client's needs and wants, we are able to develop the most efficient and effective plan for their project.

RWC's contributions are clearly evident in Mankato and throughout Southern Minnesota, where we have played a significant role in the construction of many major commercial/industrial buildings.

In 2008, RWC completed approximately $ 24.7 million worth of construction projects.

Our RWC team consists of:

The Owners, Project Managers and Estimators, and a Field Staff of tradesmen who are highly trained in all phases of construction.  This includes professional and dedicated supervisors, layout people, equipment operators, forming carpenters, finish carpenters, laborers, concrete finishers and certified welders.
